THE JMG XL-INSPECTION

Every JMG-Signature service includes the JMG-XL-Inspection, which is goes further than just an inspection, further than any Porsche factory specified service and is designed as a foundation for the ultimate in servicing, it includes every item specified to be checked on every Porsche specified service interval for every Porsche model, into one inspection for all Porsche models.

If this wasnt enough, the JMG-XL-Inspection also includes every additional check and opperation not included in any Porsche service but specified by the motor industry standard service as governed by the Good Garage Scheme.

Lastly, to improve this inspection plan further, JMG have included the additional items it feels Porsche had over looked which can be applicable to all Porsche models.

What this amounts to is an inspection with in many cases double the items inspected of even the most in depth service specified by the Porsche factory on any model ever made.

JMG Developed this inspection over the course of the last two decades, and during the early part of 2010 began work on taking this inspection further to become the basis of a delux servicing package which would apply to all models, yet include every model specific factory inspection item.

The breakthrough with this service is not just the sheer level of detail, but also the organisation of this inspection into an efficient workable work flow, which allows a JMG technician to perform this inspection and proceed through a service within a reasonable time frame. Maximising the detail of the inspection, value for money for the customer and of course increasing our ability to prevent and predict future maintenance which may be required for your Porsche.

Unlike many inspections, claimed to have X number of inspection points, often counting what should be grouped as one item, as several individual items, you will notice that the JMG inspection groups many items under one inspection point, so the number of items inspected is up to six times more than the number of inspection items.

The following is a table showing some of the inspection items from the JMG XL Inspection, what the factory include in any of their services for all models, and what the Good Garage Scheme include in their Industry Standard Service.

			Check and note timing belt, drive belt and ancillary belt intervals for specific model for customer advice.

			Fit protective covers to steering wheel, gear lever, handbrake, seat along with floor mat.
			Check condition and opperation of all seat belts

			Check clutch pedal for feel, free play and operation

			Check power steering operation
			Drive car at manovering speed checking for clutch, engine, suspension, steering and brake operation and abnormalities.
			Check heater blower motors at all speeds
			Check air conditioning system operation including for bad odor (bactial build up on evaporator)
			Check handbrake operation, performance, travel and tension
			Check windows, windscreen washers, wiper for condition, operation and adjustment
			Check opperation of interior and exterior lights
			Check operation and tone of horn
			Expose engine, visually check for leaks, damage, incorrect installation or other abnormalities
			Check all intake hoses for leaks, damage and that they are correctly secured
			Diagnostic system scan using Porsche diagnostic tool (PST2 or PIWIS)
			Apply Good Garage Scheme approved fuel injector treatement and engine flushing agents
			Check fuel cap for damage and condition
			Check oil filler cap for damage and condition
			Check condition of drive belts, timing belts, auxillary belts
			Check throttle body operation, condition and any evidence of contamination
			Check battery levels (non maintenance free versions) lubricate terminals to seal against corrosion
			Check air filter condition, replace is specified in JMG Signature Service
			Check condition of ignition components (coil, coil packs, ignition leads, distributor cap, rotor arm and sample spark plug. Replace spark plugs if specified in JMG-Signature Service
			Check fuel filter security and external evidence of condition, replace is specified in JMG-Signature Service.
			Check pollen filter condition. Replace is specified in JMG-Signature service
			Run engine up to temperature again, listening for any introduced abnormalities
			Check engine breather system
			Check cooling system for excessive pressure or leaks
			Check vacuum/boost hoses/pipes for condition, location and security
			Check cooling fan operation
			Check valve train for excessive noise, indicating poor adjustment or condition of camshaft, followers or other valve train components.
			Check underside of engine for any leaks, damage or other abnormalities
			Check and clear Clear front of oil coolers, intercoolers, radiators and air conditioning condensors for any debris
			Check oil coolers, radiators, intercoolers and air conditioning condensors for any visible damage or other issues
			Drain all oil from engine
			Inspect under body and covers for damage and secure installation
			Check fuel lines and hoses condition
			Check brake lines and hoses condition
			Check steering shafts, rods, ball joints, bellows and general condition
			Check all suspension mountings, bushes and ball joints for condition
			Check all tyres for wear, condition and age (record results regardless)
			Check all wheel bearings for wear, noise, rough running and excessive movement
			Check CV bellows and joints, for wear and damage
			Check transmission diff carrier bearings for excessive movement
			Check clutch cables, hoses and pipes, for condition or damage
			Lubricate and under body lubrication points
			Check condition and free movement of brakes (record details regardless)
			Check transmission for leaks
			Check and top up transmission fluid levels
			Fit oil drain plugs with new soft sealing washers
			Replace oil filter element
			Fill engine with fresh factory approved Mobil engine oil, of correct specification for this Porsche model)
			Check and record anti freeze/coolant protection level with hydrometer (record details)
			Check cooling cap revision and visual condition
			Top up coolant level
			Check and record clutch fluid level, condition and moisture content with refractometer
			Top up clutch fluid level
			Check and record brake fluid level, condition and moisture content with refractormeter
			Top up brake fluid level
			Check and record power steering fluid condition
			Top up power steering fluid level
			Top up windscreen washer fluid level
			Remove and refit all wheels
			Torque wheel nuts to specified torque level using digital torque wench
			Set tyre pressures to specified/recommended levels
			Lubricate throttle linkages
			Lubricate all door, luggage cover and engine cover latches, locks, hinges and check straps
			Technician to complete any Porsche factory service elements not covered by this sheet and not advertised as excluded from JMG signature service
			Carry out engine exhaust emission check, record results
			Road test vehicle (short distance) and record any observations
			Re-check engine oil levels
			Reset service lights using Porsche diagnostic equipment
			Customer to be notified of any issues found during service
			Ensure upholstery, steering wheel, gear lever, handbrake lever and other technician contacted surfaces are clean and unmarked.
			Wash vehicle exterior & vacuum interior
			Stamp service book with service stamp
			Fill out good garage scheme service report and insert carbon copy into complimentry protective cover for service book
			Complimentry protective service book cover to be loaded with business card, service book and postage paid customer feedback card
			Fill out protective cover with details of service for customer rewards scheme and emissions warranty
			Locking wheel nut/bolt key (socket type) to be placed in complimentary protective bag
			Customer to be presented with complimentary 1 litre Mobil engine oil top up for convenience

As you can see, the JMG-XL-Inspection goes far beyond the factory schedules, which in many cases cover less than half the items we have placed in the PFS (Porsche factory schedule) column above. The additional items have been added to improve your cars efficiency, allow us to comply with the Good Garage Scheme Industry Standard Service, assist in predicting your cars future maintenance requirements and hopefully avoiding future expensive complications.

In many cases the JMG Signature Service, which includes the JMG-XL-Inspection, costs very little more, or even less than the factory schedule service that we also offer, which constitutes great value for money for all customers of all Porsche models.
