The Porsche 944 model range started production in 1982 with the 2.5 8 valve 944. Sold in the UK as the 944 Lux (by the addition of alloy wheels, electric windows, electric mirrors and sunroof as standard). The 944 S2 eventually entered production in 1989 with production running until the 1993 with the introduction of the Porsche 968.

Producing masses of torque, mixed with near 50/50 weight distribution to produce excellent handling and performance, the 944 was an instant hit with customers around the world and enjoys near to zero depreciation due to demand for these cars from deserning customers seeking a sports car with good looks, excellent handling, reliability and excellent performance. In fact the JMG prediction is that 944s in comming years will appreciate in value.

This car has been known to us for almost 5 years when we originally sold it once before! Since then it has accumulated very few miles and one additional owner.

During the last 5 years we have have seen the car a number of times, where previous owners have followed recommendations to ensure maintaining its condition. Typical recent work includes a 48,000 mile service, brakes, wheel bearings and minor electrical repairs.

We purchased as part of a trade in deal on another sales car and it is not the kind of car we would consider keeping it in the JMG collection.

Interesting features with this car are its original teledial wheels, power steering and slotted rear valance. These items were usually a very expensive optional extra at the time of manufacture and usually only available on later cars.

Although we know of no major faults with this car, it seems to drive well and it appears to be in excellent condition, we are unfortunately unable to sell this car with a warranty due to its age and low current market value.

The kind of repairs required to this car apear to be mainly minor cosmetic items which many owners may not even believe require attention. Such minor items include some wear to the drivers seat (not that bad), a pinstripe on the front bumper which is peeling, a scratch on one rear wing and very minor blemishes in the paintwork.

From the very limited observations we have made, it appears to be a relaible smooth running example, with an amazingly clean engine bay and masses of potential. Mechanically we are unable to predict the future, however other than what sounds like a slight exhaust rattle from the rear, it seems to behave perfectly.
